Refiners
High-temperature refining systems for bubble-sensitive glass production
EMP-Glass designs high-temperature Refiners for demanding glass applications where bubble removal, glass quality and process stability are critical.
A high-efficiency system for bubble removal in demanding glass processes
High-temperature refiners are among the most efficient systems for bubble removal. The functionality of EMP’s refiners has been optimized through glass flow, bubble trace and structural simulations, resulting in the use of special baffle plates and a design in which Pt-inclusions are almost completely eliminated.
EMP’s refiners have been proven in production with capacities of up to 35 tons per day.
Efficient bubble removal
High-temperature refiners are one of the most efficient systems for removing bubbles from the glass melt.
Simulation-optimized functionality
The design has been optimized through glass flow, bubble trace and structural simulations to improve refining performance.
Special baffle plate design
Special baffle plates are used as part of the solution, supporting the intended refining behavior of the system.
Minimal Pt-inclusions
In EMP’s refiner design Pt-inclusions are almost completely eliminated in its refiner design.
Production-proven capacity
The solution has been proven in operation with capacities of up to 35 tons per day.
Refiners for Special Sheet Glass, Glass Fibers and Optical Glass
EMP’s Refiners are designed for applications such as special sheet glass, glass fibers and optical glass, where bubble removal and stable melt quality are essential to the final product. These are production environments in which refining performance directly affects process quality and output consistency.
For customers, this means working with a partner that does not only supply hardware, but can also support the full path from concept to operational system.
A complete project can include more than the refiner itself
EMP provides the design and hardware delivery of complete turnkey systems based on electrically heated Platinum alloy parts. Depending on the project scope, a Refiner can therefore be supplied within a wider solution that includes pre-assembled modules, heating equipment with temperature control, mechanical accessories, oxygen-bubble-related equipment and optional process equipment.
Pre-Assembled Modules
Optimized modules combine Platinum alloy parts, thermal insulation and steel support structures to reduce thermal losses, simplify installation and support stable long-term operation.
Heating Equipment & Temperature Control
Advanced control units provide highly precise temperature regulation of up to ±1 °K, helping improve energy efficiency, process stability and product consistency.
Mechanical Accessories
We supply essential mechanical equipment for melting and forming operations, including solutions for plungers, stirrers, glass shears and glass level control systems.
Oxygen Bubble Reduction Equipment
Specialized devices help reduce oxygen bubbles caused by electrolysis, improving optical quality and minimizing production waste.
Environmental Control Systems, Water Dipping Equipment
For high-temperature glass applications, ECS solutions help improve product quality and extend Platinum system lifetime. For less demanding glass types, water dipping equipment can also be supplied.
Optional Forming Equipment
Systems can be extended with additional components such as drawing chambers, roller assemblies, annealing chambers and other customized forming solutions for specialized production lines.
Simulation-driven system optimization
EMP also offers modeling services for electrically heated Platinum systems, including simulations of Platinum components, surrounding insulation and glass flow. This capability can support system optimization and better technical decision-making in complex projects.
A structured process for reliable project delivery
From the first consultation to commissioning and after-sales support, EMP-Glass follows a clear and efficient workflow tailored to each customer’s technical and production requirements.
This step-by-step process helps ensure precision, transparency and reliable execution throughout the project.
1. Production Requirements Analysis
In discussion with the customer, EMP identifies the most suitable possibilities for using Platinum systems in the customer’s factory and production process.
2. Design & Engineering
Using experience and proven software, EMP develops a tailored solution and prepares manufacturing drawings for Platinum parts, steel support, insulation, heating and control systems.
3. Full-Service Delivery & Assembly
Systems are delivered ready for use, with EMP managing manufacturing and transportation. In the workshop, Platinum systems are assembled into refractory and steel cases to support correct function and long lifetime.
4. Commissioning & After-Sales Support
EMP supervises installation at the customer’s factory and supports the project until guaranteed production quality and quantity are reached. Ongoing support includes troubleshooting, remote data analysis, repairs and spare parts delivery.
